How to use these selections
This rotating set is a small devotional sampler, not a lectionary or a balanced summary of the Bible. Alongside encouragement and gratitude, it now carries lament, justice, repentance, and costly discipleship — but thirty short excerpts still cannot stand in for the whole. Read each reference in its chapter, and let the Church's fuller cycle of Scripture carry you further into wisdom, community, and its difficult teachings as well.

When you are anxious

Anxiety is not proof of weak faith. Prayer can accompany medical care, counseling, practical help, and trusted community.
When you are weary
Come to me, all who labor and are heavy laden, and I will give you rest. Matthew 11:28 (RSV)
When you are afraid
fear not, for I am with you, be not dismayed, for I am your God; I will strengthen you, I will help you, I will uphold you with my victorious right hand. Isaiah 41:10 (RSV)
God first speaks these words to Jacob and Israel. The Church treasures the promise while remembering its first addressee; read Isaiah 41:8–14.
When you are grateful
